Andrea – her journey from global logistics to state-of-the-art measurement systems

You may have met Andrea at Wire and Cable exhibitions and trade shows around the world – but did you know how she joined our team? It was a smooth transition from logistics to the world of camera-based measurement!

Andrea Pizzorno joined our team in December 2021. This was originally in a temporary role, providing maternity cover – but we knew when we interviewed her that this was just an excuse – her talents were immediately obvious!

Born in Brazil, Andrea has come a long way – literally and figuratively. She spent a large part of her early career working in logistics, with a specialization in global shipping and freight. This is a complex business, with a good deal of trading to secure capacity.

It’s also fascinating, as it provides rich insights into how global supply chains are built up and how they are interrelated. Andrea worked in the chemical sector, for a while, which is made complicated by the fact that you need specialist conveyors. Fulfilling sales roles, she also gained board-level experience.

But, in 2015, Andrea made the move to Norway and has embraced Nordic life. With the exception, oddly, of skiing. It seems we’ll never convert her to that, which is a total failure on our part.

Becoming a vital member of our Wire and Cable team

In any event, Andrea soon made an impact. As you will know, we’re an engineering company and we work in a very specialized field. If you know, you know. But Andrea has a natural curiosity and also comes from a family of engineers. Some of this clearly rubbed off, because she rapidly learned about what we do, why it matters – and how we do it.

More importantly, with her extensive background in sales, Andrea was quickly able to combine her people skills with a rich understanding of our solutions. Knowing the problems our customers face in their industries and how we can help is key, and Andrea’s natural curiosity ensured she learned quickly.

“Working at Conoptica is just plain fun. Everyone is honest and transparent – and full of enthusiasm for what we do,” she says. “Taking this attitude to our customers is just wonderful – we have a real community, that is growing rapidly around the world. My job is to help smooth the way between enquiry and fulfilment, which is a real pleasure.”

Delivering solutions to customers globally

Today, Andrea performs training and installation, ensuring delivery to the customers with whom she interacts from our HQ. This requires extensive travel, but with multi-lingual skills and a deep appreciation of different cultures, Andrea has proven to be a natural.

Next up comes more travel, with trips planned to Portugal, Mexico, Argentina and, back to her home country, Brazil.

“It’s exciting – sure, we keep work in its place, but everyone is invested in delivering satisfaction to our customers,” added Andrea. “But I can live quite happily without the skiing.”

Andrea has made a lasting impact and we’re so glad that she found her way across the ocean to join our team.
